Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva Daniyar Mukhashev held a meeting with Director General of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
During the meeting the sides discussed the projects implemented by the WHO Country Office in Kyrgyzstan and promising areas of cooperation. In particular, WHO's technical assistance to support the ongoing health reforms, paying special attention to control of non-communicable diseases and maternal mortality.
The sides also discussed the 69th World Health Assembly, which adopted the program of emergency assistance to ensure rapid and comprehensive support to countries and communities who have experienced or are trying to overcome the consequences of emergencies. In this context, Daniyar Mukashev expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan will be included in the list of countries where this program is implemented, given the country's vulnerability to emergencies.
In turn, Margaret Chan assured that WHO will carefully consider the proposals of the Kyrgyz side, and continue to cooperate in the field of public health.
