Coordination committee of the assistance program for the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the field of prevention and surveillance of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases took place on November 19 at the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
The session was attended by chief sanitary officials of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Director of the Armenian AIDS Center, representatives of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) and UNAIDS.
The participants discussed implementation of the program and further assistance for 2016-2017.
To date, the program has trained more than 300 specialists from Kyrgyzstan in the action on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and donated 3 mobile clinics, while Tajikistan and Armenia received 1 mobile clinic each.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on November 14 on assistance to Central Asia in the sector for the next 2 years.
