physicians have left Kyrgyzstan over the last 5 years, according to the analysis of the implementation of the national strategy for reproductive health of the population presented on November 21.
The largest outflow of doctors is observed in Jalal-Abad region – 132, Osh region – 102, and the city of Osh – 41.
For example, 1 thousand 609 doctors and 4 thousand 782 nursing personnel have started working in the healthcare sector of Kyrgyzstan in 2011. Meanwhile, 1 thousand 515 doctors and 3 thousand 192 nursing personnel stopped their activities in the sector.
Main reasons for the reluctance of physicians to work in rural areas are poor infrastructure in the regions, limited opportunities for professional growth and unsettled living conditions.
The lowest ratio of doctors is observed in remote areas of Kyrgyzstan, including Chatkal, Suzak, Tyup, Jety-Oguz, Naryn, Alai, Chon-Alai, Manas, Bakai-Ata and Sokuluk districts.
