Increase in RHD vehicles in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 45.03% for 8 years, Deputy Minister of Interior Ryskul Japarkulov said at the session of SDPK.
Members of the parliamentary faction considered amendments to the law on traffic in Kyrgyzstan on November 21.
“The country has 1.07 million cars today. 163 thousand of them are right-hand drive, which is 15.39% of the total number of vehicles in Kyrgyzstan against 6.41% of RHD cars in 2006,” Japarkulov added.
He explained that the bill seeks to address the underlying problem of preserving life and health of the population.
“Introduction of a ban on import of right-hand drive vehicles aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents, thus preserving the life of the people,” the Deputy Minister said.
