To date, 7 thousand 618 traumatic weapons are in possession of the Kyrgyz citizens, according to Minister of Interior Melis Turganbayev.
The Minister thus signed a draft law that prescribes to shoot off the traumatic weapons.
According to explanatory notes of the bill, traumatic weapon causes more severe injuries than gas spay weapon. Moreover, it is a new type of weapon that may inflict significant harm, including death.
Traumatic, or less-lethal weapons are weapons intended to be less likely to kill a living target than conventional weapons. It is often understood that accidental, incidental and correlative casualties are risked wherever force is applied, but less lethal weapons try to minimize the risk as much as possible.
These weapons are used in combat situations to limit the escalation of conflict where employment of lethal force is prohibited or undesirable, where rules of engagement require minimum casualties, or where policy restricts the use of conventional force.
