The number of children from socially disadvantaged families in Bishkek has increased by nearly 2%, according to the Social Development Department under the mayor's office.
In particular, their number increased from 19 thousand in 2013 to 21 thousand children in 2014.
To date, educational establishments of the city enroll 432 children without parental care; 4,032 half-orphans; 383 children from disadvantaged families; and 5,338 children from single-parent families.
Thus, “21 thousand 474 children, or 19.2% are from disadvantaged families. For comparison, 19 thousand 350 children, or 18% were registered in 2013,” the statement said.
