890 hazardous trees in Bishkek removed YTD

890 hazardous trees in Bishkek were removed since the beginning of the year, Chief of the Municipal Gardening Enterprise (Zelenstroi) Anvar Atantayev said on October 9 at the session of the Standing Committee on Rules, Legal Affairs and Law Enforcement.

Many perennials of the city are more than fifty years old.

“1,049 plants were recognized hazardous at the beginning of the year, and are subject to sanitary felling,” Atantayev added.

To remove a tree, Zelenstroi checks its health (if 50% of the tree is damaged, it should be eliminated); trunk damage (if vertical cracks, seams, dead branch stubs and large, older wounds cause internal decay); tree hollow (if one-third of the interior of the tree is hollow or rotten, it should be removed); large dead branches (large trees that have had their tops broken or large damaged limbs are a danger to people and property), and others.
