Patients of the Chui Regional Hospital's hemodialysis ward appealed to the Bishkek Police Department to launch a criminal probe over improper performance of professional duties by medical personnel, the Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reports.
Hemodialysis ward at the Chui Regional Hospital was opened in December 2010. The police received complaints from patients upon prescription of expired Repretin, a generic drug designed to treat anemia.
The patients claimed that medical personnel of the hospital used the drug, expired in February 2013, until May 2013. As a result, such treatment killed 34 people.
The relevant examinations have been scheduled. Further investigation will be carried out by the police department of Sverdlovsky district.
