Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Elvira Sariyeva participated in the round table discussion on September 19 on the results of a pilot initiative for outpatient treatment of tuberculosis.
She studied the results of the initiative by the example of the Issyk-Ata Family Medical Center, and noted the progress of the medical staff achieved within the fight against tuberculosis despite the difficult situation in the country.
“Treatment of tuberculosis on an outpatient basis proves the effectiveness of the provision of medical services at the primary level. This positive experience should be spread throughout the healthcare system in Kyrgyzstan,” Sariyeva said.
The Vice Prime Minister also thanked the international partners of the country for technical support in the prevention and control of tuberculosis.
In order to reduce the incidence and mortality from tuberculosis, the Government approved the relevant program for 2013-2016.
