Three Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Kyrgyzstan arrived in Manas airport. They left their country, because of events in Luhansk region, the press service of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Migration of the KR reports.
All three of them are registered at the checkpoint of the state border, and they were given the relevant documents.
Lately 2 more citizens of Ukraine applied for asylum. They arrived fearing for their lives and safety because of the situation in the south-east of Ukraine.
All persons from Ukraine arrived to stay with relatives in Bishkek.
It should be noted that Kyrgyzstan joined the 1951 UN Convention on Refugees and the 1967 Protocol thereto in 1996.
Kyrgyzstan provided international protection for more than 20 thousand refugees.
The number of refugees on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic as of August 1, 2014 is 155 people, including from Afghanistan - 123 people, other countries - 32 people.
