It is required to switch over to use of coal for heating amid growing shortage of electricity, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Joomart Otorbayev told reporters on July 23 in Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan began buying electricity from Tajikistan at 2 cents, the Prime Minister said.
“Unfortunately, Tajikistan can't supply more electricity for technical reasons. We can't buy electricity from Kazakhstan, as its price is high and we will have to subsidize it from the public budget,” the Prime Minister explained.
“Our electricity tariffs are low, this is why we are buying electricity from Tajikistan,” he went on saying.
The Prime Minister reminded the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan passed 3 draft laws saying that the government will handle tariffing policy. The President already signed the laws, the Prime Minister concluded.
