Specialists from Kyrgyzstan held a seminar on laboratory diagnosis and epidemiological analysis of intestinal parasitic diseases in Tajikistan, the press service of the Department of Disease Prevention and Sanitary Inspection of Kyrgyzstan said on July 22.
International experts invited to the seminar from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute emphasized high level of organization and conduct of the campaign on mass deworming and laboratory examination.
The Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation and Deputy Minister of Health of Tajikistan praised the professional level of specialists from Kyrgyzstan as well.
Since 2007, the Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health under technical and financial support of the Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation conducts a complex of anti-epidemic measures aimed at reduction of intestinal parasitic diseases. As a result, parasitic infection decreased in the country from 80% to 5.4%.
Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. that supports programs to improve the health of children worldwide. It was founded in 1991 by Mstislav Rostropovich, the world-renowned Russian cellist, and his wife, soprano Galina Vishnevskaya. To date, the programs of the foundation have reached over 20 million children and young adults.
