During the first 8 months of 2017, the incidence of viral hepatitis decreased in Kyrgyzstan by 31.3%, including hepatitis A by 32.7% compared to the same period in 2016, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.
According to data of the Ministry, from the beginning of 2017, 3494 cases were registered against 5 091 cases of the previous year. The highest incidence of hepatitis A was recorded in Batken and Osh oblasts and in Osh.
In the age structure of the incidence of hepatitis A, the share of children under the age of 14 makes 83.4%.
The Ministry of Health reports that the increase in the incidence of hepatitis A is often observed in the autumn and winter, mainly among children in kindergartens and schools. The infection is mainly due to non-observance of personal hygiene and close contact with the patient.
