The Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic has signed a contract with the contractor for construction works on the Bishkek-Kara-Balta road, the press service of the ministry reports.
On March 28, 2017, the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a contract worth $ 70 million 239 thousand 899.28 with China Railway No 5 Engineering Group Co., LTD for construction works of the road linking Bishkek and Kara-Balta town under CAREC Corridor 3 (Bishkek-Osh Road) Improvement Project, Bishkek-Kara-Balta section.
The contract duration is 1 thousand 80 days, which is equivalent to 3 years. In addition, 365 days are provided as a liability period for defects. Thus, the total project implementation period will be 4 years. The contractor will start mobilization in the near future.
For the implementation of the CAREC Corridor 3 (Bishkek-Osh Road) Improvement Project, Bishkek-Kara-Balta section, the Asian Development Bank allocated $ 100 million. $ 65 million out of which is loan and $ 35 million is grant. Construction works include rehabilitation of the road section, construction of new sidewalks on both sides in settlements, improvement of the irrigation system running along the road, repair of existing and construction of new underground pedestrian crossings.
