The Kyrgyz delegation headed by Chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Mineral Resources Duishenbek Zilaliev visited the Balkhash copper smelter combine (BMZ, Kazakhstan), the press service of the State Committee reported.
The combine was established in 1938, is located on the coast of Balkhash Lake, produces copper, gold, silver, sulfuric acid, etc. Currently it is a part of Kazakhmys Smalting LLP. A number of companies producing gold in Kyrgyzstan are customers of BMZ.
The Kyrgyz delegation got acquainted with the work of a number of BMZ shops, in particular, with the technology of production of precious metals, as well as with the problems of the impact of emission of the combine on the environment.
The visit was a part of the study of the possibility of building a copper smelter in Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz delegation got acquainted with the work of BMZ to assess all risks and opportunities associated with the construction of a copper smelting complex.
