Bishkek mayor's office plans preparation of a public transport development concept. Its preparation will require 450,000 Euros, Bishkek mayor Kubanychbek Kulmatov said.
Procurement of 50 trolleybuses is planned from a loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The trolleybuses will help to fill in transport gaps in the capital city, the mayor said.
Public transport carried 226.4 million passengers in 2015 (versus 224.161 million passengers in 2014).
The Bishkek trolleybus department operates 149 trolleybuses running on 9 routes. Four new trolleybuses were put into service in 2015.
Ninety nine trolleybuses carry passengers on existing routes daily, this is for 5.3% more than in 2014.
