Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Tolkunbek Abdygulov met with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the press service of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
The meeting was attended by Director General of Central and West Asia Department of ADB Sean Sullivan, the head of the Permanent Mission of the ADB in Kyrgyzstan Ria Hiraoka and Senior Management project portfolio of ADB in Kyrgyzstan Maria Paniagua.
Abdygulov informed ADB representatives about the general financial and economic situation in Kyrgyzstan and the situation in the banking sector. Chairman of the National Bank noted that Kyrgyzstan had recently become a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, and now there is a large-scale work on the harmonization of national legislation to the standards of the EEU. He also said that the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Bank is working hard to overcome the crisis in the economy.
In addition, Abdygulov told that the National Bank, the Jogorku Kenesh, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is working on de-dollarization of the economy of Kyrgyzstan. According to him, these measures are aimed at strengthening the national currency and the economy.
Abdygulov also thanked the ADB for the fruitful development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and provide assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic.
