The trolleybus management of Bishkek city marks its 65th anniversary on January 13, reports the press service of the Mayor's Office.
The first trolleybus traffic was opened in Bishkek on January 13, 1951 and it's first driver was Tagiltsev Nikolay.
Total length of the trolley lines was 8.4 km, there were 4 trolleybuses that time. The number of passengers was 3,228,000 in the first year. The total number of employees was 78 people.
Then the length of the trolley lines reached 17.4 km, the number of trolleybuses increased to 10 in 1952.
The administration and the trade union committee awarded the employees, who have worked in Bishkek trolleybus management for 25 years, with breast badge “Veteran of Work” in 2010.
Currently, the number of employees in the trolleybus management is 660 people, there are 154 vehicles. The trolleybuses operate on 9 routes.
