Atambayev and Hollande adopted a joint communiqué

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and French President Francois Hollande signed a joint communiqué.

Francois Hollande assured Atambayev of the desire of France to develop bilateral relations with the countries of Central Asia and to actively support the implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia.

The Presidents of the two countries held in-depth exchange of views on the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as topical international issues.

Kyrgyz President stressed his commitment to defend fundamental democratic values that praised his French counterpart, and expressed support for the socio-economic reforms in the country and the measures taken for its sustainable development.

The two presidents expressed their mutual desire to strengthen mutual cooperation, that contributes to the improvement of the electoral system.

The two leaders expressed their mutual desire to develop the Kyrgyz-French political dialogue at all levels, in particular through annual consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries at the level of senior officials. The parties also called for the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation as well as cooperation between cities and regions of France and Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, the two countries noted the desire for the development of economic and trade relations and underlined the potential for cooperation in energy, agriculture and tourism.

The two leaders stressed the importance of strengthening links between universities, research and cultural institutions, and public organizations. The parties have called for the development of student exchanges between the two countries, in particular in the framework of the «Erasmus +», and welcomed the intention of the agency «CampusFrance» to organize a forum in Kyrgyzstan at the end of this year. The sides noted the importance of the work of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies (IFEAC) based in Bishkek within the French research activities in Central Asia.

The sides discussed topical international events and noted the common will of France and Kyrgyzstan to contribute to peace and stability and the development of dialogue at regional and global scales.

Atambayev praised the efforts of France in contributing to the resolution of the crisis in Ukraine. The French side, in turn, welcomed the readiness of Kyrgyzstan to contribute to the rapprochement of Russia and the European Union.

France and Kyrgyzstan agreed that they would provide mutual support in the upcoming two elections in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
