Today Kyrgyzstan needs 1,154 doctors, the Ministry of Health said on March 16.
In particular, Batken region lacks 103 doctors (Batken, Leilek districts and the town of Sulyukta); Talas region – 140 specialists (Manas, Talas districts); Naryn region – 137 (Kochkor, Jumgal districts and the town of Naryn); Issyk-Kul region – 94 (Ton, Tyup districts).
Furthermore, Jalal-Abad region lacks 163 doctors (Aksy, Suzak, Chatkal districts); Osh region – 125 (Chon-Alai, Alai, Nookat districts); Chui region – 165 (Moskovsky, Jaiyl districts); and Bishkek – 227.
Basically, there is a shortage of family physicians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, TB specialists, psychiatrists, etc.
One of the main problems is inactive work by local self-governments while hiring the specialists. The Ministry of Health considers it necessary to intensify the work in the area.
