Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed the Law "On Traffic in the Kyrgyz Republic", imposing a ban on the import of right-hand drive cars into the country.
The law was adopted by the Parliament on January 28, 2015. The goal is to improve efficiency and safety of motor transport in the Kyrgyz Republic. Moreover, the law aims to reduce traffic accidents, involving vehicles with right-hand drive and the ban on their import into the country. Vehicles designed for municipal, agricultural, road construction are considered as an exception (truck cranes, auto-drilling, motortruck concrete mixers, flusher machines), and other types, defined by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The law will come into force three months after its official publication - on June 1, 2015.
