Kyrgyz alpine skiing team will leave for Austria to participate in international competitions in Europe on January 16, coach Igor Borisov said.
There are 4 athletes in the national team: Sergey Trelevsky, Evgeny Timofeyev, Maksim Gordeyev, and Olga Palyutkina. They will be performing in slalom and giant slalom disciplines.
The tournament in Europe will begin on January 17-18. "There is not much snow in Europe now, and many events are being posponed, so it is hard to define the exact day of the tournament's start," the coach said.
After the competition in Europe, the team of Kyrgyzstan will go to Colorado, the USA, where the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship will be held on February 2-15. It is expected that Kyrgyz athletes Ivan Borisov and Andrei Trelevsky will participate in this tournament.
Team of Kyrgyzstan participated in the previous FIS Alpine World Ski Championship, which was held in Austria in 2013.
