Kurmanjan Datka: The Queen of Mountains, a historical film directed by Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, was screened in the framework of the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 6.
The show went very well, Sher-Niyaz noticed.
“There were many people, and all the tickets were sold out. After the screening, the audience emphasized that we have a beautiful country, beautiful people, and admired our traditions and the way of life,” he told AKIpress.
The festival kicked off on January 2 and will run until January 12, 2015. The second screening of the Kurmanjan Datka film will be held on January 8.
Palm Springs International Film Festival is a film festival held in California. It started in 1989 and is held annually in January. Though the festival does feature American independent films, the focus from its inception was to shine a spotlight on international cinema.
