Number of claims on torture decrease by 42.3% in 2014

The prosecutor's office of Osh city hosted the regular interdepartmental meeting of the leaders of the prosecutor's office, law enforcement agencies of Osh, and representatives of human rights organizations, the press service of the Prosecutor's General Office said.

During the meeting, joint activities aimed at development of the necessary measures to prevent and punish acts of torture and other degrading treatment or punishment and the ways of identifying and eliminating the causes and conditions that facilitate the commission of such facts, were discussed.

It was noted that as a result of joint activities, the number of received claims on torture decreased by 42.3% in comparison with 2013.

The meeting was held in the framework of memorandum of partnership between prosecutor's office of Osh and civil society, which was signed in October 2011.
