Some Members of the Parliament are going to reintroduce a bill on chemical castration of pedophiles in Kyrgyzstan, MP Tursunbai Bakir uulu said on December 23 during the session of the committee on social policy.
“Every day we read about crimes against children in media. The madness arose to the level when uncles and fathers rape their own daughters, nieces, etc. We will introduce the bill on chemical castration of pedophiles again,” he stressed.
Bakir uulu thanked the parliamentarians who had previously supported the bill.
“We did not have only 10 additional votes,” he said.
The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan failed to override the presidential objections to the bill on chemical castration of pedophiles on November 28, 2013.
Chemical castration supposes injection of pedophiles with hormones several months prior to their release to shut down sex drive.
The bill was passed by the Parliament back then, however, the President returned it back with his objections. Atambayev proposed to extend the prison term for pedophiles instead.
Eighty votes were required to override the presidential objections. However, only 70 Members of the Parliament voted for the chemical castration and 25 voted against out of 95 registered.
