5 criminal probes were launched on suspicion of polygamy for 4 years, according to the Government's day on human rights in Kyrgyzstan.
“On suspicion of marrying 2 or more girls from 2010 to 2014, five criminal probes were launched and four of them were submitted to the courts,” said Vice Prime Minister for Security and Border Issues Abdyrakhman Mamataliyev.
“53 criminal probes more were launched into forced marriages of persons under 17, 33 of them were brought to the courts. Obstruction of entry into marriage is prosecuted as well – 148 probes were launched and 80 of them have been considered by the courts,” he added.
